This is one of an estimated 2,000 pepperboxes in .22 caliber manufactured by Tipping & Lawden. The serial number is on the bottom of the barrels. It features fancy gutta percha grips with acanthus leaf scrollwork.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 30% original blue finish remaining on the barrels, traces of original silver plating in the protected areas, gray patina and minor oxidation on the remaining iron, and dark aged patina on the brass. The left grip is good with moderate smoothing and aging, and the right grip is fair with several cracks and some smoothing. Mechanically excellent.
