Description:

Manufactured between 1930 and 1938. According to the table on page 177 of "L.C. Smith Shotguns" by Brophy, 2,375 guns were manufactured in Field Grade configuration in .410 bore. This is the bulk of .410 production, but still only a small percentage when compared to overall production by Hunter Arms. Single steel bead sight on the solid matte rib barrels with 3 inch chambers, improved modified/full chokes, single extractor, and the standard model and maker legends on the barrels just forward of the breech. Standard markings on the receiver with dual triggers, and a tang mounted automatic safety. Fitted with a checkered forearm and pistol grip stock with a serrated plastic buttplate. The stock dimensions are: drop at comb 1 1/4 inches; drop at heel 2 1/8 inches; length of pull 14 inches.

Rating Definition:

Fine. 85% original blue finish remains with a slight plum tint, some high point and edge wear, surface scratches, and areas of varnish on the barrels. The receiver and side plates have 70% original muted case colors with a mottled silver/gray patina on the balance, the remains of a protective coat of clear varnish, and spotting mostly on the underside and left side plate. The wood is fine with a freshened coat of varnish, well defined checkering, and some small dings and dents.
