Description:

Measuring 38 inches overall, with a 27 inch blade installed in a blackened copper habaki. The round tsuba is also blackened copper, with raised and gold highlighted cherry blossom and bird decoration, the fuchi and kashira being blackened iron, a pair of plant themed menuki and a leather wrapped saya. The tang has three mekugi-ana, with notably deeper aging towards the rear and a two-symbol signature on the left side, which appears to be "Kanenaga", a name associated with a number of Koto-era Smiths.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The bright blade shows significant age, with scattered pitting and notable splits around the spine and fullers. Similar but lighter wear is present on the furniture, and an iron tassel loop has been added to the hilt.
