Description:

Measuring 37 1/2 inches overall, with a 26 inch blade showing a wavy hamon fitted into a gilt brass habaki, with standard World War II "shin gunto" pattern furniture. The tang is mildly aged, with a three-symbol signature on the right side. The signature appears to be "Kaneaki", a trade name used by a number of Showa-era Swordsmiths.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus. The blade shows a few edge nicks and evidence of cleaning/polishing, with some areas of pitting and strong remnants of the hamon. The wrap shows some stains and some mild fraying around the mekugi and lower menuki, and the saya shows some mild scuffs and dings, with the furniture being in good shape overall.
