Manufactured from 1881 to 1883. This rifle is chambered in the desirable 45-70 caliber and features the two-line address/patent date marking ending with "RE-ISSUE NOV. 9. 1880" ahead of the rear sight and "45 Govt" at the breech. The lower right barrel flat has the London black powder proof. Fitted with a German silver blade front sight and elevation adjustable rear sight. Mounted on a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a smooth buttplate. The included factory letter (has a factory corrected typo in the serial number) confirms the caliber and barrel length and gives a shipment date of September 9, 1885.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The rifle retains traces of original blue finish in and around the protected areas with the balance a mottled gray patina. There are a few patches of mild spotting. The wood is very good with a few small chips missing near the tangs and some minor to moderate pressure dents and scratches. Action needs some adjustment as follower does not always operate properly.
