Description:

Manufactured circa 1847 to 1848 with approximately 1000 Jenks tape primer carbines produced by Remington. The top of the barrel is marked "P/W. JENKS/U.S.N./RP/P/1847/CAST-STEEL" immediately ahead of the oval loading port. Lock plate is marked "REMINGTON'S/HERKIMER/N.Y." The underside of the breech lever is marked "7/2". Smooth straight grip stock with brass furniture, sling ring behind the trigger and "P" stamps on some of the components.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel retains 70% original brown finish with the balance a smooth gray patina with some tool marks near the muzzle. The trigger, hammer, breech lever, and lock retain 40% original case colors. The brass is fine. The stock is fine with numerous minor dings. Mechanically excellent.
