Christopher George Bonehill (1831-1920) was among the finest Birmingham gunmakers in the late 19th century and was among the guardians of the Birmingham Proof House. His business moved to Belmont Fire Arms Works in 1873. Barrel has blade front sight with a flip up white dot, three leaf rear sight with folding 150 and 200 yard leaves, "C. G. BONEHILL. MAKER. BELMONT FIRE ARMS WORKS. BIRMINGHAM." on the textured rib ahead of the rear sight, an extractor, matching serial number, multiple proofmarks, "577 EX." (three times), "8," and "W2772." The water table has additional Birmingham proofs, and the back action locks have "C. G. BONEHILL." There is some light border and floral engraving. The Jone's style underlever and the lower tang/trigger guard are unmarked. The forearm and round knob semi-pistol grip buttstock are multi-point checkered, and the buttstock has a silver initial plate on the bottom, 1 1/4 inch drop at comb, 2 3/4 inch drop at heel, and 16 1/2 inch length of pull.

Fine with 98% of the refinished blue on the barrels and faint case colors and otherwise a smooth blend of gray and brown patina on the other metal. There are some scattered minor marks and spots of slight pitting/oxidation. The left barrel has patches of deep pitting at the breech end. The forearm is fine with crisp checkering, a small chip on the upper right at the rear, and some chipping on the front right. The sanded and refinished buttstock has crisp re-cut checkering, minor scratches, a rusty sling eye, and a hardened, compressed, and cracking recoil pad. The markings are mostly crisp throughout. Mechanically excellent.
