Description:

Built by Contemporary Longrifle Association member Ken Gilpin of Flint Hill, Virginia. His rifle output is very limited, but his rifles are high quality as demonstrated by the engraving, carving, and inlay work on this fine rifle. The tapered barrel has a fairly high dovetailed knife blade front sight and a fixed notch rear sight, and the rifle is equipped with double set triggers. Nearly every component has some engraving or carving. The lock and barrel were not readily removable for inspection; thus, their manufacturers have not been identified.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as custom made. The barrel has a slightly dulled original blue finish turning to brown. The brass and wire inlays are mostly bright with mild aged patina forming. The triggers have fired case colors. The lock is mostly bright with some scattered light spotting as well as some oxidation around the edges of the frizzen. The stock has some minor handling and storage marks, attractive red hues, and nice flame figure. Mechanically fine.
