Description:

The accompanying factory letter confirms the caliber, 30 inch octagon barrel, set trigger and checkered pistol grip stock. It had Lyman front and rear sights (currently a beaded blade Lyman front sight, filler block in the rear dovetail slot and tang peep sight) when it was received in the warehouse on December 21, 1906, and shipped the next day. It also has the Winchester factory oval proof on the barrel and receiver at the breech, a barrel with the two-line address/patent information and "32-40" marked on the top flat and the 1879 patent date and serial number marked on the lower tang. Mounted on a nicely figured and checkered forearm and pistol grip stock with ebony forend insert, hard rubber factory grip cap and crescent buttplate. The letter "H" is stamped on the left side of the pistol grip.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The rifle retains 97% plus bright original high polish blue finish showing slight edge thinning on the upper right side of receiver. The hammer, breechblock, lever and buttplate retain 95% plus original case colors. The wood is also excellent with barely noticeable scuff marks on the buttstock (right side), and some minor dings and scratches overall. Mechanically excellent.
