Manufactured in 1916 with a special order pistol grip stock fitted with a Swiss buttplate. It has standard Winchester markings including the factory oval proof on the barrel and receiver at the breech and is fitted with an elevation/windage adjustable Stevens scope (30 1/4 inches long). Mounted on a 12-groove round forearm and smooth pistol grip stock with hard rubber Winchester grip cap and nickel-plated Swiss buttplate. Matching assembly number "143" is marked on the lower tang under the stock, buttstock and buttplate. According to Winchester slide action rifle expert and author Ned Schwing, only 620 Model 1890s were manufactured with the plain pistol grip stock (see "Winchester Slide Action Rifles, Vol I," page 226). Production numbers for the Swiss buttplate remain unknown, but it is without a doubt a rare feature.

Excellent. The rifle retains 95% original blue finish showing slide wear, a couple areas of brown and some very scattered light pitting. The hammer retains vivid original case colors. The buttplate retains nearly all of the original nickel plating. The wood is very fine with a number of minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. The scope retains nearly 95% original blue finish with some patches of spotting and hazy optics. A solid example of a rarely encountered special order Model 1890 with a pistol grip stock and Swiss buttplate.
