Description:

Manufactured in 1861. "ADDRESS COL SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA" is on the top of the barrel. The left side of the frame is marked "COLTS/PATENT," one cylinder flute is marked "PAT. SEPT 10th 1850," and the left trigger guard shoulder is marked "36 CAL." The complete matching serial number is marked on the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard, cylinder pin and back strap. The wedge is numbered "91677," and "88" is visible on the rear of the cylinder. Brass cone front sight and hammer notch rear sight. The cylinder and cylinder pin are un-numbered. Blue barrel and cylinder, casehardened frame, loading lever and hammer, and silver plated brass grip frame. Fitted with a varnished one-piece walnut grip. Comes in a period wooden case with blue felt lining, with directions sheet attached to the inside of the lid. In the case is a nipple wrench/screwdriver, a James Dixon flask and partially full cap tin.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 30% original thin blue finish remaining mixed with smooth gray patina, 40% of the original vivid case colors remain and 70% of the age darkened original silver plating remains. The exposed brass has a natural untouched aged patina. The grip is also fine with much of the heat crazed varnish, a small gouge on the lower left rear, and a few scattered minor dents and dings. The "PATENT" on the left side of the frame is very faint, otherwise the markings are clear. The action is excellent. The case is good with exterior dents, dings and scratches. The interior has been relined and the lid label is a reproduction. The accessories are good. The cap tin labels are mostly absent and the lid is lightly rusted.
