Description:

This is a fine example of a civilian Colt Model 1860 percussion revolver manufactured in 1869. It has the one-line New York barrel address, "COLTS/PATENT" frame marking, naval battle scene on a cylinder marked "COLTS PATENT No 478" and "44 CAL" on the trigger guard. Matching numbers are found on the frame, barrel, trigger guard, back strap, cylinder and arbor pin. The wedge is un-numbered. The brass trigger guard is silver plated. The partitioned case comes with a powder flask (reproduction), case key, Eley Bro. cap tin with caps and five lead rounds.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel retains 40% original polished blue finish and the cylinder and back strap retain traces of original polish blue finish in the protected areas, otherwise a smooth brown-gray patina. Most of the cylinder scene remains. The hammer, loading lever and frame retain 30% original case colors. The trigger guard retains 50% original silver plating. The replacement grip is also fine showing high edge wear and a number of minor pressure dents and scratches with most of the finish remaining. Mechanically excellent. The relined case is fair showing high edge wear and numerous handling/storage marks.
