Description:

This Model 1816 Springfield Musket has a bolster conversion preformed by Hewes & Phillips of Newark, New Jersey, and features a distinctive percussion breech with integral "H&P" and "1862" marked bolster. The lock is marked with "SPRING/FIELD/1828" behind the hammer and the eagle shield motif over "US" in front of the hammer. It also has a bayonet stud on top near the muzzle, blade front sight on the front barrel band, three leaf rear sight, and standard government inspection markings.

Rating Definition:

Fine with light gray and brown patina and minor pitting on the iron and some dents, minor chips, a minor tension crack on the left flat, and scratches on the very good stock. Mechanically excellent.
