Description:

Colt's New Line series were the concealable companions of the ever popular Colt Single Action Army. Their small size meant they could disappear in a pocket and made them perfect for those wanting a discrete sidearm while at the card tables of a western saloon or walking the streets of the crime riddled cities of the late 19th century. This beautiful example was manufactured in 1873 (the first year of production) and has nearly full coverage factory scroll, punch dot, and geometric engraving patterns; attractive mother of pearl grips, blade and top strap groove sights, the early two-line address flanked by Maltese crosses on the barrel, matching serial numbers on the barrel and butt, gold plated short fluted cylinder and hammer, niter blue trigger and small parts, and silver plated remaining metal.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 95% plus darkened original silver plating, 85% of the period replated gold, gray and brown patina on the exposed iron, and attractive aged patina on the visible brass. The grips are very fine and have minor handling wear, attractive iridescent colors, and slight edge wear. Mechanically functions, but the cylinder does not lock up.
