Manufactured in 1863. The revolver features factory floral scroll engraving on a punch-dot background covering the breech sides of the barrel, cylinder flats, frame, trigger guard bow and back strap. The letter "E" that indicate the part was designated for engraving is stamped above the serial number on the barrel lug, and below the serial number on the frame, trigger guard and back strap. The top of the barrel is marked "ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA". "COLTS/PATENT" is located on the left side of the frame, and the patent date found in one of the cylinder flutes is absent. The complete matching serial number is marked on the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard and back strap, and the partial serial number "3790" is marked on the wedge and on the cylinder pin. All nickel finish and fitted with a smooth one piece grip.

Fine as period refinished with 60% nickel finish remaining. There is some flaking and pitting on the breech end of the barrel, and the cylinder is pitted and has a gray patina. There is some overall scattered flaking. The grip is very fine with a couple of minor age cracks on the bottom and a very pleasant patina. The markings are legible. The action is fine.
