Manufactured in 1861. This is an example of a Colt Model 1862 Pocket (and Police) Navy Conversion Revolver chambered for the 38 RF cartridge circa 1873 to 1880 with the 3 1/2 inch round barrel. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line Hartford address, the left side of the frame is marked with the two line two patent dates, and the left trigger guard shoulder is marked "36 CAL". The cylinder is roll engraved with the stagecoach hold up scene and marked "COLTS PATENT/No 066". The complete matching serial number is marked on the barrel, frame, trigger guard and back strap, the wedge is un-numbered, and the cylinder pin is numbered "675". Nickel finish with nitre blue screws, wedge and trigger, casehardened hammer and fitted with a smooth one-piece varnished walnut grip.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The revolver retains 85% plus of the original nickel finish with loss concentrated to flaking on the back strap and trigger guard. The exposed brass has an attractive aged patina. There are several small minor digs and dents on the barrel lug in the area of the wedge. The cylinder scene is crisp and clear. The grip is fine with 70% original varnish remaining, showing some very minor lower edge wear, flaking of the varnish, and overall some minor dents and dings. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
