Description:

This exceptional Colt Single Action Army revolver was manufactured in 1930. The revolver has the Colt commercial blue finish on the barrel, cylinder, trigger guard and back strap. The frame, hammer and loading gate are casehardened. The two piece hard rubber grips are checkered and have the Rampant Colt in an oval. The hammer spur has borderless knurling. The top of the barrel is roll stamped "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. Co. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." in one line with a die break in the "O" in "HARTFORD". The left side of the barrel is roll stamped "45 COLT"; 1930 was the first year in which "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY" did not precede the caliber marking on the barrel. The left side of the frame is roll stamped with the Colt two line, three patent dates followed by the Rampant Colt. The assembly number "1161" is stamped on the inside of the loading gate. A "1" assembler's mark and the Colt "Triangle/VP" proofmark are stamped on the left side of the front trigger guard bow. The serial number, "352878", is roll stamped on the bottom of the frame and on the right side of the trigger guard and back strap underneath the grips. The revolver is complete with the original royal blue cardboard box. The serial number, "352878," is written in grease pencil on the underside of the box. The carton has a dark blue end label with white borders and markings. The markings read "5 1/2 Colt's Army S.A. Revolver/RUBBER BLUE .45." Colt advertising labels are glued to the inside of the box lid and bottom. The original Colt Special Instructions pamphlet is included in the box.

Rating Definition:

Near new. The revolver retains 99% plus of the original blue and casehardened finish. There are only faint drag lines on the cylinder. The frame, hammer, and loading gate have fiery case colors. The trigger has all of the niter blue finish. The frame, trigger guard and grip screws are in near perfect. The two piece hard rubber grips are like new. The box is very good overall and the end label shows very little wear. One end of the box lid is completely missing and the opposite end is partially missing, with the loose bits included. The finish on the edges of the bottom of the carton has scattered flaking. The Special Instructions pamphlet is oil soaked but very good. This is an outstanding example of a pre-war Colt Single Action Army revolver in nearly new condition complete with the original box. It would be very difficult to improve upon the condition of this outstanding revolver.
