The accompanying factory letter confirms the barrel length, finish and checkered stocks. This mint World War I issue revolver was shipped on June 9, 1916, to the Canadian Government, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It has standard S&W factory markings with a Canadian "crown/30" stamped on the butt, half moon front and frame groove sights, matching serial numbers on the butt, barrel and cylinder and matching assembly number "1538" on the yoke and crane. The rare factory box is numbered to the gun and has the correct factory end label. The boxes used for this model were factory re-labeled Triple Lock boxes. Excellent plus. The revolver retains over 99% original blue finish showing a light cylinder drag line and a few very scattered light handling marks. 99% plus original case colors remain on the hammer, trigger and lanyard ring. The grips are near new with crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The box is fine with a minor tear on the bottom and indentations on the interior caused by the hammer and grip. This is an all original, high conditioned Canadian contract S&W .455 Mark II double action revolver with rare box that will be impossible to upgrade.
