Manufactured in 1956/57 and featuring "A" coverage factory scroll engraving. "WHM" is on the side plate. The S&W factory markings are clear and distinct, and the barrel markings are inside scroll banners. It has nicely figured Coke bottle diamond target stocks and matching serial numbers on the butt, cylinder, and ejector shroud. The S&W factory records confirm this revolver will letter as engraved with the initials "WHM," and that it was shipped along with a Pre-Model 17 (K284696) in a two-gun special order in August 1957. The Pre-Model 17 is also in this auction, and there is also a Model 48 K-22 Masterpiece in this auction that has been identified as factory engraved with the initials "WHM." These revolvers are found in the previous and next lots. All three revolvers were shipped to the same distributor.

Excellent. The revolver retains 99% plus of the blue finish showing a cylinder drag line. The grips are excellent with very limited minor handling marks and sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
