Desirable Smith & Wesson .44 Hand Ejector 1st Model Triple Lock Double Action Revolver

Barrel: 6 1/2 inch round
Finish: blue
Grip: walnut

Item Views: 7203

Serial Number:
Catalog Page: 173
Class: Curio & Relic Handgun
Description:

Manufactured between 1907 and 1915. This example was shipped in 1917 and features standard S&W markings with an importer marking on the butt, matching serial numbers on the butt, right grip panel, cylinder and ejector shroud and assembly number "5716" on the yoke and crane. Most S&W experts are of the opinion that the triple lock mechanism was more an expression of the ultimate in precision machine work than as a necessity for strength and function. Smith & Wesson's normal two locks provided more locking strength than their competitor Colt.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The revolver retains 95% plus original blue finish showing some minor thinning, some minor handling marks and a cylinder drag line. There are a couple small patches of light pitting on the cylinder. Nearly 97% original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger. The grips are very fine with a gouge near the bottom (left panel), some minor handling marks and crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: Frank Staig.
