Confirmed by the Colt factory letter, this revolver was a Cowboy prototype first model and display revolver kept by the Colt factory. The letter also confirms the barrel length, finish, and grips as simulated ivory. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line Hartford address and the left side is marked "COLT COWBOY 45 COLT". Excellent. The revolver retains 99% of the original respective finishes with the cylinder having a light cylinder drag line and some minor scratches. Grips are near new with only the slightest handling marks.
