Description:

Produced in 1928, with a factory letter stating that it was retained by the factory as an experimental pistol, with a hanging tag marked "Early F.P.S." and "Schwartz (sic) Patent Half Cock". The slide is unfinished, with no front sight installed, with the two line, one block address and patent marks on the left side, "COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE .45" next to the Rampant Colt on the right, and the rectangular Swartz block on the underside. The frame is finished blue, with Government Model markings on the right side and "S" on top next to the safety plunger. Checkered trigger, replacement much later production thumb safety, wide hammer, long safety and arched mainspring housing. Checkered grips, minus one screw. Magazine absent. Provenance: Colt Factory Archive Collection.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with 90% original blue on the frame, with scratches and handling marks. The slide is in-the-white unfinished, with machine marks and scratches. Grips are fine, with light pressure dents. Mechanically fine.
