Manufactured between 1962 and 1968, the Darne uses a novel mobile breech assembly with a set of fixed barrels, the literal reverse of virtually every side by side shotgun on the market. Fitted with a single bead sight on the lightly engraved dished rib, with the St. Etienne proofs on the underside of the barrel group and set of six Darne punch stamps indicating the grade. The frame is engraved with a light straight line border, and the breechblock is accented with wavy border lines and deeply carved oak leaf designs on the recoil shield and break lever. Fitted with a checkered knob grip two-piece stock, sling swivels and a "DARNE" marked horn buttplate. Measurements: bore diameter at 9 inches from breech right .628/left .628 inches; wall thickness at 9 inches from breech right .055/left .055 inches; muzzle diameter right .619/left .603 (approximately modified/full; chamber 3 inches; drop at comb 1 3/8 inches; drop at heel 2 1/4 inches; length of pull 15 1/4 inches; cast off; weight 6 pounds 11.8 ounces.

Excellent, with 95% plus original blue finish, showing some light handling marks overall, along with some mild pitting on the rib near the breech. The stock is good, with some rust around the sling swivel, a few oil stains and evidence of light sanding. Mechanically very good.
