Description:

The overall construction of this cap is dark green Italian gaberdine cloth with a black velvet band, white piping, and metal SS eagle and totenkopf badges. The chinstrap is white cord, and the visor is two-tone vulkanfiber, black on top and checkerboard brown on the underside. The interior is fitted with a brown leather sweatband signed either "Hoose" or "Hoase", with the gray lining marked "56" with no makers marks or sweat diamond. No information is available about the name on the sweatband, which may have been an original owner or the soldier who captured the hat. Provenance: Kondor collection.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with some light stains and handling marks overall. A tiny tear is forming in the right side of the sweatband, with some sweat staining on the band, chinstrap and lining appropriate to wear and use.
