This is a desirable Mauser manufactured Persian contract Artillery Luger rig manufactured circa 1935/36. There were a total of 2,000 Persian contract Lugers manufactured. 1,000 four-inch barreled models and 1,000, eight-inch Artillery models. The Artillery model was an exact duplicate of the WWI German Artillery Luger except all the markings and numbering are in Farsi. The chamber area of the pistol is marked with the Persian crest with the front toggle also marked in Farsi for the Mauser factory. The left side of the barrel extension is marked in Farsi, and the left side is marked with the Mauser crown over "U" commercial proofmark. The full serial 3389 (marked in Farsi) is marked on the front of the frame and the left side of the barrel extension, and the last two digits of the Farsi serial number (89) are marked on each part. It is fitted with a set of unnumbered checkered walnut grips. This Luger is complete with one nickel-plated magazine with an aluminum base correctly marked on the base in Farsi although non-matching. This fine example comes with a complete Luger Artillery rig that includes a unmarked brown leather holster, an unmarked walnut shoulder stock with an unnumbered attaching iron, a brown leather double magazine pouch, an unmarked takedown tool and an unmarked artillery cleaning rod. The pistol has the standard blue finish with straw colored small components.

Very fine with 85% of the original blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear overall with blue loss on the muzzle area, side plate hump, frame rails with thinning on the grip straps. The smaller parts retain 60% of their original straw colors overall. The walnut grips are in fine condition with nice distinct checkering, showing minor light wear and nicks. The leather components, holster, magazine pouch, shoulder straps, and stock boot are all in fine condition with a nice matching medium brown color overall with tight stitching showing light wear on the face of the leather mixed with some light scuffing in areas with light wrinkling of the leather. The walnut board stock is in excellent condition with only minor handling marks/scratches on the sides with the attaching iron having 98% of its blue finish overall. A very nice looking and honest DWM/Mauser Persian Contract Artillery Luger rig.
