This is a very fine example of a pre-war Krieghoff Luger that was manufactured in 1936. It is estimated that approximately 7,400 Lugers were manufactured by Krieghoff for the Luftwaffe by the end of 1936; this includes all "S" code and 1936 dated models. Krieghoff was the only official supplier to the Luftwaffe during WWII, and their pistols are prized for their fine fit and blue finish. The chamber area is stamped "1936," and the front toggle is marked with the C-1, 1936 pattern "H (anchor) K/KRIEGHOFF/SUHL" where the "Krieghoff" name runs from the full left side to the right side of the top of the toggle. The left side of the barrel extension, underside of the barrel, and the front of the frame have the full serial number. The right side of the barrel extension has the double "Krieghoff Eagle/2" acceptance proof with the single eagle firing proof in between. The right side of the frame and underside of the barrel have the same "Eagle/2" acceptance proof and the diameter (8,84) running lengthwise. It is fitted with the correct WWII Krieghoff coarse checkered, brown plastic grips. It is complete with an original matching serialized, nickel-plated magazine with an aluminum base marked "eagle/2" and "5720".

Fine, with 70% plus of the original blue finish, showing small areas of gray and brown patina, minor general spotting with deeper pitting concentrated on the left, light handling marks, and some bright edge wear. Cold blue is visible on the muzzle. 30% of the original straw color is present on the trigger and takedown, safety lever and ejector both restored, with niter blue remaining bright in the protected areas. The grips are very fine, with some mild handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
