Description:

Measuring 28 inches in height, this axe is fitted with a 5 1/2 inch long head, with a curved 8 inch crescent edge and a 1 3/4 x 1 1/2 inch hammer at the rear. Floral pattern gold koftgari overlay borders the edge. A large floral patterned panel with a silver overlaid Arabic inscription is on both sides of the blade. Additional gold work, mostly geometric, is present on the iron haft and grip which have a twisted pattern and a round pommel.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The haft has a mostly brown patina with good visible gold work, and mild patches of oxidation. The blade has clearly visible Damascus type patterns, small dings, strong gold overlays, and a mottled gray patina.
