Designed to be carried on the back of an assistant gunner, the field mount for the MG42 machine gun could be rapidly unfolded to serve as an adjustable tripod or as the base for an anti-aircraft pintle mount (not included). Marked "dar" followed by "1941/4500/e" on top, with a green paint finish overall, a pair of brown leather shoulder straps and a pair of leather pads on the front leg, as well as a small metal tool compartment on the left side. The side of the traverse and elevation mechanism is stamped "bga/41/653" over an "eagle/WaA18" acceptance stamp.
Fine. Most of the green paint finish remains with areas of visible oxidation, chips and dings. The mechanisms function properly. The leather components have scuffs and age discoloration overall with tight stitching and solid construction.
