Description:

This is a very desirable WWII British MK II BREN gun that was imported as a demilitarized part set which was rewelded/reassembled back into a fully functional, fully automatic BREN machine gun. This was the standard British WWII light/medium machine gun used from 1939 through WWII and into the late 1950s. These weapons were exceptionally reliable and highly accurate especially in the single shot mode. They were heavy, very robust and extremely well-made. As noted, this has been reassembled by DLO Manufacturing (Douglas L. Oefinger) of Stanford, CT. DLO was one of the early class 2 manufacturers who operated from approximately 1981 to 1986 until the import ban was implemented, which effectively ended his business. He was well know in the community and produced some of the best reactivated class II weapons on the market. This one is marked on the right side with "BREN MKII INGLIS 1943." It has been properly registered and marked on the front portion of the receiver with: "DLO ST, CT, 80 MK 2005". It hand cycles and dry fires correctly, and although the receiver was correctly reactivated, the receiver was never final polished and blued. It is fitted with all original parts (none of them are matching) which is common as they were imported as part sets. It has an original walnut buttstock and pistol grip as well as a "broad arrow" proofed field mount, and this weapon comes with a complete, properly demilitarized spare BREN gun part set. This additional set includes the various smaller internal parts, two barrel assemblies, two magazines, a bipod, a lower trigger housing/group with buttstock attached and a operating rod, as well as an original receiver that has been properly torch cut into four section, (preventing reactivation). Reactivated BREN guns are very desirable as very few were actually reassembled into fully automatic weapons as it required a lot of skilled welding and gunsmithing work and any example is highly sought after on the secondary market.

Rating Definition:

Very good as remanufactured with 60% of the original wartime blued finish remaining overall having darkened, except where it was reactivated. The buttstock is good with a dark oily color showing numerous handling marks and light pressure dents on the sides. The field mount has been repainted post-WWII, and aside from the paint interfering with the installation of the mounting pins all moving parts are in good order. With a little proper hand polishing and proper blue job this would be a terrific gun to have. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
