Description:

Manufactured in the mid-18th century in St. Etienne with a blade front sight, Baroque engraving and raised relief carving, and "Pierre Peyret" on the lock. The American Kentucky rifle style powder horn is unmarked.

Rating Definition:

Good overall with mostly gray and brown patina, mild pitting and oxidation, slight traces of gold inlays among the faint barrel engraving patterns, mostly crisp carving and engraving elsewhere, a chip on the left side of the forend near the muzzle, some smaller chips elsewhere, and general dings and scratches. The powder horn is fine with dark tones overall, a broken pin head for the cap, hole in the throat, and broken off plug.
