The revolver features an unfluted cylinder with British proofs stamped between the 5 chambers at the rear, loading gate, ejector rod mounted to the front of the frame, "W. TRANTER'S/PATENT" marked on the left side of the frame and caliber marking "320" flanked by British proofs on the upper left barrel flat. The top barrel flat is marked "ROBERT JONES, 6 CHAPEL ST," and the upper right barrel flat is marked "OPPOSITE THE EXCHANGE/BUILDINGS, LIVERPOOL." The partitioned case has a Robert Jones retailer label on the interior of the lid and holds an oiler, a bore rod, a cartridge block holding 21 rounds and 19 loose cartridges.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The barrel and frame retain 85% bright original high polish blue finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. The cylinder, hammer and butt cap retain traces of faded original case colors. The grips are excellent with overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The case is good with the initial plaque missing, detached key hole escutcheon, loose partitioned walls and fire damaged bottom. A period handwritten label has been applied over part of the retailer label.
