Manufactured in 1857 in Maastricht and marked with the small King William government proofmarks throughout, "crown/HL/57" on the lock, "1857 7" on the upper left barrel flat, "335" on the left flat, the round government cartouche on the right side of the butt, and "1858/5D 335" on the buttplate tang. Features fixed sights, rifled bore, distinctive loop hammer, and a saddle ring on the left on an extension off of the side plate. These carbines were known to have heavy recoil.
Very good overall with a protective coating of oil/varnish, some mild pitting, and generally minor marks. The stock has some attractive flame figure, numerous dent and scratches concentrated on the right side of the butt, a series of circular dents on the opposite side, and some minor marks and scratches. Mechanically fine.
