Stock: walnut

Description:

Resembling the Paget carbine of 1847, this carbine has a lock plate marked with a "crown/VR" ahead of the hammer, fixed sights, brass furniture and an iron swivel ramrod. The buttplate tang is engraved "C6" and S.S.Y.C.," the marking for the South Staffordshire Yeomanry. Raised in 1794, the South Staffordshire Yeomanry went on to receive battle honors in the Second Boer War, WWI and WWII and renamed The Queen's Own Mercian Yeomanry in 1973 before being disbanded in 2006.

Rating Definition:

Fair. The carbine has a mottled brown patina and a protective coating applied to the metal surfaces. The sanded and re-oiled stock is fair with a few filled repairs and a repaired chip near the barrel key. The action needs work as the hammer does not hold at half cock.
