Description:

Standard markings and features. Dated "1818" on the tail of the lock. "LEWIS K AUSTIN" is carved into the left side of the butt and "1890" is written just below. The Model 1816 was the most widely used of the U.S. martial flintlocks. They were the main arms of the Texas Revolution and Mexican-American War and even saw use in the Civil War. Most of the subsequent U.S. muskets were considered improvements of this pattern

Rating Definition:

Very good with gray patina, oil staining, light pitting, and mild oxidation on the iron, some small nicks and scratches in the otherwise very good stock. Mechanically fine.
