Description:

Type I style manufactured in the early 1800s with bayonet stud on top near the muzzle, blade front sight on the rear of the upper band, standard proofs at the breech, eagle and shield motif over "US" in script between the cock and pan, "SPRINGFIELD" in an arch behind the cock, no visible date at the tail, rear sling swivel stud projecting through the trigger guard which has long, pointed finials, "FCOY" on the trigger plate, and what appears to be "1801" or "1804" on the buttplate tang. A socket bayonet is included.

Rating Definition:

Good as reconverted to flintlock configuration. The iron has mottled gray patina and mild pitting. The stock is good as reoiled and has some general dings and scratches and some slight surface chips. Mechanically fine.
