Description:

Ordered in 1808, the Simeon North Contract Pistols were delivered over the course of 2 years, and were the main sidearm of the United States Army during the War of 1812. Produced without sights, with an American eagle over "U.STATES" beneath the brass flash pan, and "S. NORTH/BERLIN/CONN" at the rear of the lock. Smooth pistol grip stock, with brass furniture, wood ramrod, and a 5 inch long belt hook running alongside the left of the gun.

Rating Definition:

Fair, with a mixed brown and gray patina on the steel, extensive scattered moderate to deep pitting and handling marks. The brass has taken on a deep, aged patina. The stock is fair, with some cracking and chips. A section of wood has been replaced just rear of the muzzle and above the buttcap. Mechanically very good.
