Manufactured in 1870 as a third model with the serial number stamped in block numerals behind the trigger, allowing the serial number to be visible without removing the stock. It has standard Winchester barrel markings, blade front sight/bayonet lug, ladder rear sight graduated to 900 yards, sling swivels and brass buttplate with compartment (cleaning rod not included). The musket comes with a socket bayonet.
Fine. The barrel and magazine retain 70% original blue finish with evidence of repair around rear sight dovetail which has been cold blued. The lever and hammer are polished bright. The crisp brass has an attractive bright appearance with an added screw on left top side. The loading gate retains 60% bright original nitre blue. The very fine wood has original raised feathered grain and shows barrel band pressure streaks and some scattered minor handling marks. The rear sight is a refinished replacement. Mechanically excellent.
