Description:

Remington named their factory metallic cartridge conversion New Model firearms their "Improved New Models" and manufactured them in the mid to late 1860s and 1870s. They also converted many percussion revolvers that were returned to the factory. This example has the standard sights and barrel markings, matching serial numbers on the bottom of the barrel and left side of the grip frame, a "2" on the right side of the grip frame, matching conversion number "443" on the bottom of the barrel, right side of the grip frame; non-numbered grips and cylinder, and various inspection markings including an inspector's cartouche on the left grip due to use of rejected Civil War contract revolvers.

Rating Definition:

Fine as factory converted and refurbished with 50% plus blue finish and gray and brown patina on the balance. Some of the markings including the cartouche are faint. The loading lever is missing the ramming piece, and the butt has inventory number "8 229" in yellow/gold paint. The revarnished grips have some minor edge wear and small dings.
