Marked "TRYON PHILADA" on top of the barrel, "DS" on the lower right flat, "TRYON" on the back action lock, and with unclear markings on the backside of the patch box door. The Tryon family were active in the gun and hardware trade from 1811 until around 1960. It has a dovetailed German silver blade front sight, fixed notch rear sight, German silver forend cap, wedge escutcheons, side plate, wrist and lower butt inlays, and toe plate; fine scroll engraving on most of the components, an ornate iron patch box with pierced finial and double pierced side plates (also seen in German silver on other high end Tryon sporting rifles), and iron buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very good with mottled gray and brown patina, light pitting and oxidation, and mild edge wear on the iron and aged patina and minor marks on the German silver. The stock is fine with tight flame figure, minor dents and scraps, fairly crisp checkering, and slight chipping on the upper left at the breech. Mechanically excellent.
