Description:

Manufactured around 1837-1854. Marked "ALLEN & THURBER CAST STEEL" on one of the barrel ribs, "ALLENS PATENT/1837" on the left side of the hammer, and the matching serial number on most of the components including the grips. The frame and grip frame are engraved with floral scroll patterns, and the nipple shield has etched rounder scroll patterns. It comes in a custom case with cleaning and loading rods, a bullet mold, cap tin, and small powder flask.

Rating Definition:

Fine with gray patina and light spotting along the barrel group, strong case colors and some mild pitting on the hammer, fairly bright trigger, 50% of the bright original high polish blue on the action, and gray patina on the balance. The refinished grips are fair and have minor handling and storage wear and small dings. Mechanically fine. The relined custom made case and accessories are good.
