The barrel has a dovetailed blade front sight, dovetailed notch rear sight with folding leaf, "Josef Seigel Salzburg" in silver inlay on the stippled upper flat behind the rear sight, and dual silver inlaid bands at the breech. Siegel was active around the 1860s to 1880s. "WE" on the inside of the action, The rest of the rifle is unmarked. The upper tang has an integral folding peep sight. It is equipped with a smooth schnabel forearm, double set triggers, a horn trigger guard extension, checkered pistol grip stock with large cheek rest, a steel shotgun buttplate with a trapdoor compartment, and a period (possibly original) leather sling fixed in the traditional jaeger rifle fashion (stud on the bottom of the butt and sling swivel at the front).

Very good plus with patches of visible original blue finish, strong original blue in the protected areas and deep brown patina on the barrel. Nearly all of the silver inlay remains. The remaining surfaces have mottled gray and brown patina. The wood is very good and has numerous minor dings and scratches and fairly crisp checkering. The set trigger needs some adjustments/work; otherwise mechanically excellent.
