Manufactured by Wichmann in Leer, Lower Saxony, in the mid-19th century with elliptical muzzles for easier reloading without obscuring the line of sight, post front sights, "WICHMANN·LEER" on the locks in an arch below the hammer, checkered wrists, and iron ramrods with brass tips. The caliber is estimated at .75. The muzzles are 1 1/2 inches wide and 1 1/8 inches tall.

Fine with a dark brown mix of faded original finish and patina along the barrel as well as some minor oxidation and pitting, 30% original case colors on the lock, crack in the lock plate near the front, and mottled gray and brown patina on the trigger guard. The otherwise fine stock has a crack in the upper wrist, crisp checkering, some dings and scratches, and some minor chips. Mechanically fine.
