Description:

Manufactured by Nicolas Jampsin Bosset who is known to have worked with Jean Francois Couna to produce 25,000 muskets for Holland in the middle of the 18th century. Holland was the richest region in the in the 17th century due to prolific international trade and remained an important center of trade in the early 18th century. The region was also the site of several of the period's most intense conflicts. The musket is very similar to the late production 1740 pattern "Potsdam" muskets used by the Prussian military. It has a blade front sight, bayonet stud on the bottom, "8" hallmark on the left barrel flat, "N·I·BOSSET/A LIEGE" on the lock, "10/IRA/1721" on the left side of the butt, and raised tear drop flats.

Rating Definition:

Very good with dark mottled gray and brown patina on the iron along with mild pitting and tool marks. The brass has aged patina. The trigger guard and one buttplate screw are cracked. The stock has some repaired cracks, small chips, and a few hairline cracks. There are general scrapes, dings, and marks throughout. Mechanically fine.
