Description:

Manufactured in 1905. Colt manufactured approximately 970 of these revolvers between 1894 and 1913 with only 97 reportedly chambered in 45 Colt. This particular revolver is absent of the "(BISLEY MODEL)" barrel marking. According to "A Study Of The Colt Single Action Army Revolver" by Kopec, only 64 Target Model revolvers had been found without the now familiar "(BISLEY MODEL)" barrel stamping. Those encountered are usually in the serial number range of 156,300 to 160,900. The top of the barrel is marked with the one-line address, the left side has "45 COLT", and the left side of the frame is marked with the two line, three patent dates followed by the circled Rampant Colt. Pinned blade front and dovetailed fixed rear sights, blue finish with niter blue small parts and fitted with a pair of smooth pearl grips. The accompanying factory letter verifies the caliber, barrel length, blue finish, grips as "Not Listed" and that it was shipped as 1 of 2 to Simmons Hardware in St. Louis, Mo., on October 5, 1905.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as professionally refinished with 99% plus blue finish remaining, showing only a very faint cylinder drag line and light handling marks. The grips are also very fine with a couple of minor age cracks. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
