Description:

Originally manufactured in the late 1870s to 1880 and subsequently customized by the talented gunsmith Adolph Otto Niedner, a veteran of the Geronimo campaigns and Madison police force, in 1906-1920. He worked with many of the early 20th centuries finest gunsmiths including Harry Pope and specialized in chambering and custom building single-shot rifles. He introduced rifles for the .25 Niedner in 1920, the same year as his move to Michigan (similar to the .25-06 Remington), and built rifles for fellow cartridge designer Charles Newton. The rifle has a beaded blade front sight, taps for scope or rear sight mounting, "A.O. NIEDNER/MALDEN. MASS," on top near the breech, double set triggers, short range peep sight, checkered forearm with hard rubber cap, and multi-point checkered pistol grip stock with rubber grip cap and shotgun buttplate. No serial number is visible.

Rating Definition:

Fine as professionally modified and refinished with 85% blue finish and vibrant case colors. There is some moderate finish wear near the breech and general minor scratches. The wood is very good and has crisp checkering and mild scratches and small dents. Mechanically excellent.
