The single shot Heeren system was developed in the late 1880s by Christiano Heeren, an Austro-Hungarian engineer. Hooded beaded blade front and two leaf (one standing, one folding) rear peep and notch sights. Top of the barrel is marked "H.&H. ZEHNER (N) FRANKFURT/M" with floral engraved sight bases and a wedge of fine engraving just forward of the breech. Highly detailed game scene engraved receiver with oak leaf scroll borders and scenes of moose on the right and hunting dogs cornering a bear on the left. Top of the action is marked "HEEREN/SYSTEM/W. GLASER". Full length Mannlicher-style stock with horn forend and grip caps, raised cheekpiece, and vented Pachmayr recoil pad. With leather and canvas sling.

Fine. Most of the refinished blue remains with thinner blue around the caliber marking and some small nicks and scrapes under the blue. Receiver has an overall smooth gray patina with sharp detailed engraving and light spotting on the trigger guard/lever. The refinished forend and buttstock have scattered small pressure dents, well-defined checkering, and the added recoil pad. Mechanically excellent.
