Description:

One of approximately 4,237 Model 1903 revolvers manufactured by Webley & Scott, this is an example of a small frame target version of the Model 1903 with the adjustable rear sight and an uncommon 6 inch barrel. Most target revolvers had a 7 1/2 inch barrel. The revolver falls into a serial number range (4475-4479) of 5 units manufactured in March 1923 towards the end of production. It has the late dip-tank highly polished blue finish and 1 1/4 inch cylinder, all correct features of late production examples. British proofs are present. The left side of the top strap is marked "WEBLEY-FOSBERY." The left side plate is marked with the weakly struck "W&S" winged bullet logo followed by "455 CORDITE," and the right side plate is marked "MADE IN ENGLAND" followed the serial number. Matching numbers are found on the frame under the left grip panel, barrel, right side plate, a couple internal components and cylinder. The pistol is divided into two main components, an upper frame carrying the barrel, cylinder and the hammer, which is mated to the lower grip frame and single action trigger and disconnector assembly on a spring loaded track. On discharge the recoil energy drives the entire upper frame back along the track recocking the hammer and advancing the cylinder.

Rating Definition:

Exceptionally fine. The revolver retains 95% factory refurbished high polish blue finish. The grips also excellent showing a few minor handling marks and crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent.
