Description:

Manufactured in 1857-1860. The frame and barrel have elaborate factory Germanic influenced American scroll engraving, by Richard Bates Inshaw, S&W's first engraver. German silver blade front sight, the standard barrel address and cylinder patent marking, notch rear sight, curled hammer spur, and matching "B/O" assembly markings. It comes in an early style factory Gutta Perch pistol case with a No. 1 revolver on the top of the lid and a cartridge block partially full of ammunition.

Rating Definition:

Fine overall with 90% of the darkening original silver plating on the frame, traces of original blue finish in the protected areas, smooth gray and brown patina on the balance, some minor pitting, and light scratches and marks. The grips have moderate handling and edge wear including some minor chipping at the edges. Mechanically excellent. The original piano finish rosewood case is good with moderate storage wear including some chips and cracks in the case.
