Late production Springfield Armory Type 2 National Match M1 rifle. Standard receiver markings as follows: "U.S. RIFLE, CAL. 30 M1, SPRINGFIELD ARMORY" over the serial number. The right side of the receiver is marked "Z9A/F6528291", and the barrel is marked with the "P", "M" and small DOD proof and acceptance marks along with a "63" date stamp. The front portion of the exposed barrel has the correct "NM" markings on the left side. The various parts are marked as follows: Trigger Housing: 6528290-SA; Trigger Guard: stamped unmarked; Hammer: HRA 5546008; Safety: SA; Bolt: 6528287-SA/Y01; Operating Rod: 7790722-RA with "NM" on top of the cocking handle. The rear sight set is the late post-war National Match version that is marked "BME" and "NM" on the windage knob. The rear sight base is marked "NM2/A" and the aperture is also the late hooded version marked ".595" and "NM" and the front sight is marked "NM/062" on the right side. The gas cylinder is a late post-war version marked "NM" on the rear tang with the wide base, high hump gas cylinder lock, and a "PO" marked gas plug. The stock and handguard are the correct walnut versions; they have the late production accuracy improvements where the barrel band and front handguard have been unitized (glued together) and the stock has been glass bedded. The left side of the stock has the DOD acceptance cartouche and a single "P" proof in the pistol grip area. With a 1942 style unmarked web sling.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as arsenal upgraded to Type II National Match configuration with 98% of the original parkerized finish, some small areas of light edge wear, handling marks overall, and a few scattered nicks and dings. The stock and handguard set are all excellent with clear markings and a few small scattered dings. Mechanically excellent.
