Description:

The rifle has a blued barrel, trigger guard, floor plate, barrel bands and bolt, and casehardened receiver. The rifle serial number indicates the receiver was manufactured in 1911. The .22 caliber barrel is dated "6-15". The rifle has a WWI pattern "low rise" stock with the second reinforcing bolt added in 1917. The hand guard is the post-WWI pattern without the milled recess on the interior. The receiver is stamped "22" behind the clip slot and the front sight base is fitted with the 2,450 yard leaf sight designed for the .30-03 cartridge. These early sights were utilized on early Model 1903 G.P. rifles until approximately 1910. The front sight blade is not indexed to the base indicating that it is a replacement. The stock, correctly, has no proofmark on the wrist and is not stamped with a final inspection mark. The combination of early receiver and rear sight, 1915 barrel and WWI stock with post-war hand guard indicate that the rifle is an assembled, representative M1903 G.P. Included is a 2 Hoffer-Thompson .22 caliber holders and tool.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The blued and casehardened components retain 50% of the thin finish. The stock and hand guard have been lightly sanded and refinished but remain in very good overall condition. Mechanically fine. The rifle is a representative example of a seldom encountered M1903 variation.
